Actress Seo Ye-ji, known for past controversies involving her ex-boyfriend Kim Jung-hyun and alleged academic fraud, is once again in the spotlight this time for her candid and unconventional interactions with fans.
On April 11, Seo Ye-ji opened an account on the global fan communication platform Dear U Bubble. Since then, her activity has quickly drawn attention, showing a surprising ease with online slang and meme culture.
According to screenshots circulated on online communities on April 15, Seo Ye-ji actively engaged fans using witty and meme-inspired language. When one fan wrote, “Ignore mean comments,” Seo Ye-ji replied with “Aljjyoyong,” a cute, playful way of saying “Okay” in Korean internet slang.
She also sent a meme image explaining the phrase, “Now is the time to clear your heart of hatred,” breaking down each syllable with Korean characters: ‘Ah’ (clear), ‘Oh’ (hate), ‘Si’ (time), ‘Bal’ (to manage). She humorously warned fans, “If anyone says something nasty, I’m sending them this.”
Seo Ye-ji added, “I have a lot of these. When I’m angry, I just read them by myself.” She also shared another meme, explaining a phrase that translates roughly to, “Being enveloped in comfort leads to cheerfulness,” again deconstructing the meaning using Korean syllables.
Responding to fans who thought the meme sounded like profanity, she playfully clarified, “That’s not a curse word.”
Seo Ye-ji has previously faced heavy public backlash for several scandals. In 2021, she was accused of manipulating actor Kim Jung-hyun’s behavior during their relationship, a controversy widely labeled as “gaslighting.” She was also suspected of falsifying her academic background, specifically her acceptance to the prestigious Complutense University of Madrid in Spain—an allegation she never clearly addressed.
